DUTIES:
The Director is responsible for advising clients and finding cutting-edge solutions for their most challenging and highest priority multi-million-dollar construction projects, while championing and building the Currie & Brown company brand. The Director is tasked with hands-on quantity surveying and cost management for our clients, including capital planning, project delivery strategy and execution planning, capital cost and operations cost estimating, value engineering services, planning and scheduling controls, contract pricing formats, procurement management, bid evaluation and documentation, contract administration, comprehensive cost management, and risk assessment. Specific responsibilities include: Participating in business development and management of new projects for quantity surveying and cost management; Providing trusted and reasoned advice on complex matters to our client, and to know when to escalate to superiors; Supporting RFP responses, forecasting resources needed for proposals, preparation of proposals and leading negotiations; Supporting client account management, monthly invoicing, purchase order management and reviewing contractual terms; Preparing and leading project cost estimates from conceptual through various stages of design using experience, historical data, and parametric ratios; Establishing new and maintaining existing estimating tools, methods and databases used to produce project estimates; Participating in industry benchmarking of project metrics; Providing cost forecasting and cost control and management of contingencies and regular reporting services to stakeholders including presentations; Reviewing change orders and claims, including review and recommendation of entitlements in accordance with the contractual terms and conditions; and Building time into the working day to actively support or mentor more junior staff.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field of study, and fifteen (15) years of experience in any occupation in which the required experience was gained. Work Experience must have included: cost management, scheduling, project planning and estimation; experience developing and monitoring cost plans, including monthly budgets, cash flows, risk logs, and change logs; Experience with contract review and negotiation; experience using Microsoft Office Suite; and Experience with either MS Projects or Primavera. Short term and extended travel to client worksites is required.
