  • About The Role

  • The role – what is it we would like you to do?

    The Senior Cost Manager will play a key role in the successful delivery of major data centre, logistics and high-tech sector projects or other complex projects. You will lead all aspects of cost management from initial feasibility and strategic planning through to final account, providing expert commercial advice to clients and project teams throughout the project lifecycle.

    Working closely with clients, consultants and contractors, you will take responsibility for delivering accurate cost planning, robust cost control and commercial leadership across multiple projects. You will also support business growth through client relationship management, mentoring junior team members and contributing to the continued development of our cost management services.

    As a Senior Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor, your core duties will involve:

    • Leading the delivery of cost management services across major projects and programmes.
    • Taking ownership of client relationships and acting as a trusted commercial adviser.
    • Preparing and reviewing cost plans, estimates and budgets throughout all project stages.
    • Leading cost planning activities during design development and providing strategic cost advice.
    • Overseeing the preparation and management of tender documentation, procurement strategies and bills of quantities.
    • Managing tendering processes, bid evaluations, negotiations and contract recommendations.
    • Advising clients on procurement options, commercial strategy and contractual matters.
    • Monitoring project costs, cash flow, change control and risk to ensure effective budget management.
    • Reviewing and approving contractor valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
    • Leading value engineering and cost optimisation exercises to maximise client value.
    • Preparing and presenting detailed cost reports and commercial updates to clients and senior stakeholders.
    • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities and developing appropriate mitigation strategies.
    • Managing dispute avoidance and supporting the resolution of commercial and contractual issues.
    • Leading and coordinating project cost management teams across multiple commissions.
    • Mentoring, supporting and developing junior cost managers and quantity surveyors.
    • Supporting business development activities and contributing to winning new work.
    • Ensuring all deliverables are produced accurately, professionally and within agreed timescales.
    • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, contractors and industry partners.
    • Representing Currie & Brown in a professional and diligent manner at all times.

    What skills and attributes are we looking for from you?

    • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline.
    • Fluent in both French and English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Significant experience delivering cost management services within the data centre, logistics, industrial or other high-tech sectors.
    • Strong MEP cost management experience, including knowledge of key supply chain partners and market trends.
    • Extensive pre-contract and post-contract cost management experience.
    • Demonstrable experience leading complex, high-value construction projects.
    • Strong understanding of commercial management, procurement strategies and contract administration.
    • Excellent stakeholder management and client-facing skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels.
    • Proven ability to lead project teams and mentor junior professionals.
    • Strong analytical, commercial and numerical skills.
    • Excellent negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
    • Proficiency in Excel, cost management systems, cost databases and quantity surveying software.
    • Good understanding of construction methodologies, permitting requirements, contract law and health & safety regulations.
    • Well-organised, proactive, commercially astute and capable of managing multiple priorities.
    • A collaborative team player with a positive, solutions-focused approach and strong professional integrity.
